Telling a story with a big hand-made picture
November 2 is the day of the annual Library Festival. Members of the Library Committee give a story-telling presentation with large pictures they drew themselves based on a picture book of their choice. The presentation takes place in the gym, and people from the community are invited to attend. There are other story-telling sessions, a game in which students have to answer questions about a book, and various events on this day.
"Our school has lots of outdoor activities, but some children love books," says Ms. Tateishi, the librarian. "Yuki, who is now in the third grade, has taken out a total of 115 books from April to August, which is our school record."
