Awesome scenery once admired by kings

The northern shore of the central part of the main island of Okinawa features long cliffs eroded by the rough waves of the East China Sea. The cliffs are coral reefs that were uplifted long ago. The name for this beautiful coastline, “Manzamo,” was given by a king of the former Ryukyu Kingdom. It means, “A Place for Everyone to Enjoy.”
