OMI HACHIMAN
Old Merchants' Homes Near a Water Wilderness
Written by Wada Yasunari Photos by Sugawara Chiyoshi
Hachiman-bori Moat, bathed in the rays of the autumn sun. It is part of a water system that once served as the castle's inner moat and a canal linking the area near the castle to Lake Biwa.
Just about the entire city of Omi Hachiman comes into view when you take the ropeway up Mount Hachiman. Ruins of the old castle await you at the top.
