Snowball fights start as soon as the kids step outside!
For the kids of Tokamachi Elementary, snow is a great playmate. In winter they have snowball fights almost every day. Some kids also have fun building snowmen and snow huts.
Outside at lunch break some first graders were enjoying sledding. Watched by their homeroom teacher Mr. Horikawa, the kids each dragged a plastic sled up to the top of a steep embankment in a corner of the school grounds and sped down.
Jumping onto a white bed of snow.
"It's not scary!" "The cold snow feels so great!" "Ah, it's so refreshing!": These were just some of the cries from the kids, their cheeks red from the cold, as they enjoyed themselves.
The kids don't mind getting a little cold!
