Another interesting experiment makes use of a phenomenon called dilatancy, a word that at first glance probably looks difficult. This experiment requires only starch and water. Mix some starch with the solution and you’re ready to go! Thanks to dilatancy, when you take the water into your hand and apply force to it, it becomes hard; but when you relax and open your hand it returns to a liquid state. This is a very strange and interesting thing to experience.
