Some of Takasanchi's customers are children who live abroad but stop by the shop when they are back in Japan for a visit. They say the sweets are a hit with their foreign friends, and some buy big bags of them to take back as souvenirs.

Many adults have fond memories of the time they spent in dagashiya when they were kids, and now children today are discovering the joys of dagashiya just like their parents did. These stores are places where kids can not only buy sweets, play games, and win prizes but where they can play with friends in other grades and enjoy the company of adults other than their parents and teachers.
