Artificial bone
(Toshiba Ceramics)
The main constituent of natural bone is hydroxyapatite, and this material can be made artificially and processed into a porous bone replacement called "Neobone." The human body easily adapts to the replacement, and after a while tissue forms in and around it.

Interior/exterior tiles (TOTO)
Tiles with a ceramic material, titanium oxide, painted on. When light shines on the tiles they produce a photocatalyst effect that sterilizes and deodorizes. Dirt is easily washed off because the material promotes solubility in water. The tiles are now being used for the floors and walls of operating rooms, and as a "brick" building facade.

Office supplies (Kyocera)
Ceramic is lighter than metal, so ceramic scissors are more pleasant to use than ordinary metal ones. They also stay sharp longer. A ceramic ball in the tip of the ballpoint pen lasts quite a bit longer and gives a lighter, smoother feel when writing.

Kitchenware (Kyocera)
Ceramic kitchen knives are now popular because they are rustproof, stay sharp longer, and do not give the food a metallic odor. There are also ceramic slicers, peelers and graters.
