Phytoplasmas are microbes that can cause plant diseases to spread. They live as parasites in the cells of plants and insects. Phytoplasmas are still a new subject in biology, and Japanese scientists are discovering more and more about them. If preventive drugs are developed based on these discoveries, it may be possible to prevent the spread of plant diseases without killing insects.
