The series' villains are an odd trio of thieves: female boss Doronjo and the inept Boyacky and Tonzra. Together they form the Dorombo Gang. In each episode, the gang builds an odd-looking robot using money gained from their evil schemes. But the robots nearly always turn out to be junk or break down, leading to the trio's swift defeat. They then make their escape on not-so-cool bicycles.

There are other robots in the Yatterman series besides Yatter-bark, including the bird-shaped Yatter-pelican. But the robots aren’t the only interesting things in this anime. There's the simple and easy-to-understand storyline, the Dorombo Gang’s goofy dialogue, and lots of slapstick action. The music from the show is also good fun.
