Crane

The crane is surely number one in the origami repertoire. It is a little difficult to make, but that makes it even more of an interesting challenge.

Fold diagonally to make a triangle.

Fold in half to make a smaller triangle.

Open up the upper triangle, place one finger in the inside corner, then bring the left corner down to the bottom corner, removing your finger. Crease to make a square.

Turn over.

Swing the big triangle over, and fold on the vertical crease.

Open up the big triangle, then bring the left corner down to the bottom corner, as in Step 3. Crease.

Fold in the left and right corners to the vertical center. Crease. Fold down the upper triangle and crease. Open up to make the square again.

Take the upper sheet and push open the model along the existing horizontal crease. Fold in the left side along the existing creases, then fold in the right side the same way.

Turn over. Push open and fold in, as in Step 8.

Fold in the lower sides (upper triangles only) to the vertical center.

Turn over.

Fold in, as in Step 10.

Open one side, and fold it up from center. Crease, then fold in.

In Step 13, make the inside fold like this.

Take one narrow tip, and make an inside reverse fold for the beak.

Take hold of the two wings and pull out to make body balloon out. If the body does not balloon out, blow air in through bottom hole.
