Koshien has long been famous for the brass bands that play there, and they have recently even been the subject of movies. This has inspired more and more middle and high school students to join their schools' brass band clubs. Brass bands have become so popular that around 10,000 groups, including middle and high schools, take part in the All Japan Band Competition.

In June 2007, a CD titled Brass Band! Koshien was released featuring recordings of popular tunes performed at the baseball stadium. The record company was so impressed at how much of a hit it became that it made a series of these CDs, releasing one after another over the following year. And on June 25, 2008, just ahead of the summer baseball tournament at Koshien, the record company released a "greatest hits" CD featuring 55 top performances by brass bands at Koshien, including covers of popular music, anime theme songs, and original music from schools that traditionally do well in the baseball tournament. Listening to these compelling performances will give any listener an enjoyable taste of the atmosphere of Koshien's legendary Alps stands.
