A rich assortment of consumer electronic products
The area around Akihabara station, in Chiyoda City, the center of Tokyo, is a world famous electronics neighborhood. It is known as "Akiba" for short. Here you can find almost all types of electronic goods for sale-personal computers, televisions, VCRs, and radio-cassette players and prices are low due to the fierce competition.
Shoppers looking for more specialized stores can visit the small shops located in the back alleys. There are many small specialty shops with floor space of only about 10 square meters (12 square yards) with goods packed from the floor to ceiling. Many are specialized, carrying nothing but screws, or light bulbs, or electric cords. Akihabara is known as a neighborhood where you can find any kinds of electronic products, and at a reasonable price. It is full of life since it attracts many shoppers not only from Japan but from the other countries in Asia and around the world.
