Sanja Matsuri

"sasara-mai" dance: A dance accompanied by the "binzasara", a snake-like musical instrument made of 108 wooden slats which are strung together to produce a clacking rhythm. "teko-mai" dance: Performed by a troupe of local women dressed as geisha. Even though it is called a "dance" the women only sing traditional Edo period songs but do not dance.
