The Invisible Man

Now it’s possible for anyone to become invisible!

In order to do it, you'll need the following:

  • A special suit made of light-reflective material
  • A projector and other equipment

How It Works

"Invisible man" technology - or, to use the technical term, optical camouflage technology - is part of the scientific field known as virtual reality.

By combining images created on a computer with real-life things, you can make optical illusions that look real but aren’t.

The Story of Invisibility

With invisible man technology, you can…

  • make it possible to see only organs or bones when conducting surgery.
  • look out at scenery that you can't normally see while in a car or plane.

"Optical camouflage" was jointly developed by researchers at the Tachi Laboratory at the University of Tokyo and the Inami Laboratory at the University of Electro-Communications.
