Computers of the Future

"I want people to get interested in computers and use them to express themselves in all sorts of ways," says Igarashi Takeo, an associate professor at the University of Tokyo, whose inventions include this 3-D imaging software. He develops pioneering innovations that make computers easier and more comfortable to use.

The drawing becomes 3-D because the computer gives it height, based on the distance between the line through the center and the outer frame of the image.

Researchers are looking for ways that computers of the future can be used with ease throughout our daily lives.

Professor Igarashi conducts his research on future computers in the field of user interface design, in which the goal is to make computers easier to use. He hopes that new and innovative ways to use computers will emerge as people become more comfortable with them and that these uses will give computers new roles and value in people’s lives.
